PERSONALITY

A hard-working student in his final year of Lusriam's intense training regime, Az has weathered thousands of trials, exams and challenges, leading to a very level-headed, adaptable approach to most situations. Very little fazes him nowadays, and a challenge is always welcome - a mindset drilled into his head from his enthusiastic teachers. The teen has a love of books he feeds dutifully, and enjoys a good puzzle as much as he does a strenuous workout in the field. His curiosity is just as insatiable, leading him on many a zany quest for whatever trivial knowledge it is he seeks.

Az comes off as rather cynical most of the time, quick to jump to sarcasm and his favourite weapon - his sharp tongue. His fallback is an airy demeanour, where he seems rather uninvested in everything. The mage has a rather large devious streak, especially in the midst of a battle, though he certainly won’t pass the chance to trick his classmates. Due to this, many may find him difficult to befriend, and he likes to pretend he doesn’t really care.

Those who are persistent (or unfortunate) enough to ear his friendship will find in Az an incredibly loyal and caring companion, if a bit agitating.

HISTORY

Azarius remembers very little of his biological family, besides the seven candles on a brightly-coloured birthday cake and the plethora of silhouettes shrouded in black at his parents’ funerals a few weeks afterwards. A landslide, they said, an unfortunate accident that happened occasionally in the mountains surrounding Killerth. The child never believed it, but held his tongue despite his frustrations and grievances, bottling them away from the adults and their horribly pitiful gazes.

His foster parents were good to him, despite his initial bad behaviour and rebellious streak against them, and Az came to love them as he had loved his biological parents. Felix and Mary Fallow were notorious Black Mages, and the boy immediately took an interest in their incredible prowess in magic. After some intense pestering on his part, he convinced them to help him with his own magical potential, and so he began his studies to become a Mage at the age of eight. He remained in Killerth for the next seven years, studying under his parents and even accompanying them on the odd job or two, if they did not deem the task too dangerous. But Az's ambitions only grew as the years went on - he wanted to be able to face any threat that came his way, threats not even his foster parents could handle. Acknowledging his wishes, the couple told him of Lusriam's Academy and paid for his enrolment there. The aspiring Mage set off quickly to the school, confident with his many years of training under his belt.

And yet all of that could not prepare him for the training at the school. It was far more intense than he had expected, beating whatever smug arrogance he had retained right out of him in the first few days. Az quickly discovered that Lusriam's Academy meant business - not just anyone could pass through the trials and training they offered and become a Crimson soldier. But he certainly was not about to give up, not when he had so much to reach for. The boy settled down and trained as hard as he could, discussing with his teachers and groaning about upcoming exams with classmates for the next few years. Now in his fourth and final year at Lusriam's, Azarius has become a proud Black Mage seeking to ace his exams, become a mighty Crimson Soldier and find out the truth regarding his parents' demise.

LIMIT BREAK

See You In Hell: An immense inferno engulfs all opponents and the surrounding area, making for some pretty devastating fire damage. However, Az is KO'd immediately after its use.

Raijin's Rage: A large storm breaks out above his opponents, sending seven strong bolts of lightning at all opponents. Targets are randomly aimed at. (Roll range = no. of opponents + 4. If it lands on any of the numbers not assigned to an opponent, the attack misses).

WEAPONS & MAGIC

As a Black Mage, Az knows a variety of dark spells, such as Blizzard, Fire, Thunder, and Water.

Basilisk Staff - An old, gnarled staff only a head shorter than Az, this weapon used to belong to his biological mother, who also dabbled in Black Magic. A fine ebony sculpture of a thin serpent winds about the rod - at least, he thinks it's a sculpture...
